Whether you are excited or anxious eager, enthusiastic about the prospect of retiring from the fire and rescue service, this significant period of change brings with it its own challenges. Wellness and Behaviour Change Coach Sally Walker is here to offer some advice. Some advices to clear outstanding dues of housing loan, some advices to try to leave the daughters marrying to their homes.  For those of us approaching the age where we leave our careers behind, the thought of retirement brings with it a range of emotions. Maybe you’re feeling delighted at the prospect of no longer having to work, or anticipation for what your daily routine might look like once you leave work. Possibly you’re doubtful about whether or not you’re actually ready to retire, or maybe you’re looking forward to it but have some natural trepidation.  For those, who are planning to set up a business after retirement, many of them suggest the list of business and solution of the technical difficulties.  Whatever our career, retirement represents a large change. But for those of you working in the fire and rescue service, this can feel like even more of a shift, as you come to terms with the prospect of leaving the fire family and having to adjust to civilian life, especially as many of you are actually still younger than the traditional retirement age when you retire from the fire service.

It was my first Festival after retirement. My thoughts turned back to all the years I had spent in service, particularly on senior positions. A week before this Festival, people would start dropping in with all kinds of gifts. There would be so many of them that the room where we kept all the stuff would look like a gift shop.

There had been a full of greeting cards of colourful covers and Whatsapp messages, expressing joy, prosperity, and the hope for a bright future.  The amount of dried fruit would be so large that even after distributing it among our relatives and friends, a lot would still be left.

This time, things were totally different. It was already 2 pm, but nobody had come to wish us Diwali. I was feeling downcast and depressed at this sudden reversal of fortune. To distract myself, I started reading the spirituality column of a newspaper. Fortunately, I came across an interesting fable. It was first time, I felt as to how people are in our happy days and vanished away when it ended.
